Sustainability

At Niko Coatings Limited, we are deeply committed to protecting our environment and minimizing the impact of our operations. Our business practices prioritise sustainability by reducing the use of raw materials, enhancing recycling efforts, and safeguarding our workforce.

We continuously work to reduce our CO2 footprint by sourcing raw materials locally whenever possible, recycling our waste, and investing in energy-efficient processes and equipment. Since 2009, we have partnered with our customers to recycle their process waste, preventing 6,600 tons of material from being sent to landfill in 2023 alone.

The health and well-being of our team are paramount. We provide a safe and supportive working environment, constantly improving our practices to ensure the health and safety of our workforce. As a proud living wage employer, we also share the savings from our improvement initiatives with our team, recognising their vital contributions to our success.

We acknowledge the challenges ahead and are committed to leading our field in protecting the environment for future generations. We actively engage with our customers and suppliers to support us on this sustainability journey.

ISO 9001

ISO9001 As part of its mission to meet customer requirements and strive to exceed customer expectations, Niko Coatings Ltd is an ISO 9001 Certified Company and our certificate can be found in our download page.

Auditing to ISO9001 ensures Niko's quality management system (QMS) demonstrates our ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Furthermore, this principle embraces continuous improvement and the methodology of using the PLAN DO CHECK and ACT to ensure we achieve the required results or take appropriate actions if it does not.

ISO 45001

Ensuring the health and safety of our employees and at the forefront of what we do and following the ISO 45001 methodology to develop our occupational health and safety (OHS) management system has allowed us to develop and improve our systems and how we operate.

The standard establishes criteria for an OH&S policy, objectives, planning, implementation, operation, auditing, and review. Key elements include leadership commitment, worker participation, hazard identification and risk assessment, legal and regulatory compliance, emergency planning, incident investigation, and continual improvement.

ISO 14001

Our ISO14001 system is well established and helps drive our effort to reduce the impact our operations and products have on our environment! Our ISO14001 certificate can be found on our download page.

ISO14001 is an internationally recognised framework for environmental management, measurement, and auditing and is seen as a key requirement by our customer base.

Eco Vadis

The objective of the Eco Vadis assessment is to assess the quality of a company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) management systems.

Niko Coatings are proud to have been members of the Eco Vadis assessment since 2017 first achieving a bronze award and made significant improvements through to 2022 by achieving a gold award.

In 2023 further improvements to our processes achieved a higher score, but Eco Vadis changed their awarding criteria. This change moved the level of points required for a gold to a higher level and we narrowly missed this resulting in a silver level award issued.

We are continuing on our journey making improvements in the most relevant areas to protect our employees, customers and our business while limiting our impact on our environment.

Conflict Materials Responsible Minerals Initiative

As part of the Conflict Materials Responsible Minerals Initiative, Niko ensures regulatory compliance and supports responsible sourcing. Our supplier is required to supply annual declaration and ensure no conflict material enters our supply chain.

Child Labour and Modern Slavery

At Niko Coatings Limited, we are dedicated to upholding the highest ethical standards across our entire supply chain. In line with our commitment to no human trafficking, child labour, or modern slavery, and ensuring the well-being of all individuals involved in our business operations, we reach out to our valued suppliers to ensure the supplied raw materials are free from the risks of human trafficking, child labour, and modern slavery.

Recycling

Our product is 100% recyclable through our inhouse recycle centre and enables us to recycle all our internal (pre-consumer) production waste.

We have developed strong partnerships with our customers and have many arrangements where the trim waste from their processes is returned and recycled back into their product.

By adopting these actions, we managed to recycle 6600 tons of material which would have been sent to landfill in 2023. This also has an impact on our virgin raw material consumption, assisting in our GHG emissions.
